Helen Cooper

After a career in healthcare and academia, I turned to textile art in the 1990s, drawing inspiration from the natural world’s inherent dynamism. I am a passionate collector and gather anything that sparks my creativity, focusing on colours, shapes, and patterns. My work blends mixed media techniques, resulting in an eclectic range of sculptures, fabric manipulations, collages, and prints, all enriched with fabric, paint, and stitch. Recently, I have concentrated on 3D work, building sculptures from foraged objects, exploring themes such as Uncovering Joy, Climate Change, and The Written Word. These pieces aim to reflect the complexity and connectivity of our environment, capturing its infinite adaptations and deep narratives. Over the years, I have exhibited in the Northwest of England; at Cass Art and Editions in Liverpool, The Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead, Wirral Open Studio Tours, and Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham. I am a founding member of TextileArtist and contributed to the Covid Chronicle.
