Angela Hinchcliffe
I guess I would describe myself as a mixed media artist / maker with photography at the heart or foundation of every piece I make. I also make artists books using traditional book binding techniques.
My main inspiration comes from the shoreline, especially the Wirral Peninsula, Burton Mere Wetlands and North Wales. I love taking photographs of wild birds and have recently been working on a series of paintings and jewellery inspired by them and the poetry and prose devoted to them.
My favourite surfaces are paper and cotton interfacing, which I layer with paint, inks, collage and photographs. Through the influence of Remix Creatives, I have started to experiment with stitch and am looking forward to incorporating it in future work.
Alongside my art practice and for nearly twenty years I have been designing and making jewellery, with collections commissioned by the British Museum and the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.
